The first details of product placement for Skyfall have been revealed.
The Mirror recently reported that up to a third of the movie’s budget (£29 million) is formed from product placement deals. The Bond movies have always had a high involvement with products, most notably cars, drinks and gadgets.
For Skyfall, Virgin Atlantic will once more be providing some form of appearance in the film. Having been placed in previous films, including a notorious cameo from Richard Branson in Casino Royale.
Additionally, high brow publication Literary Review has confirmed that a copy of their magazine will be featured in the film. Whilst not strictly a product placement deal (they are not paying explicitly to be featured, but were rather contacted by the production team to ask if they could be used as a prop).
The editor of Literary Review, Nancy Sladek told the The Daily Mail:
‘We are thrilled. M is clearly a lady of great taste and authority.’
Coincidentally, the deputy editor of the magazine, Tom Fleming is a great-nephew of the late Ian Fleming.
We can no doubt expect further product announcements to be revealed over time, right up to the release of the movie.
